Key Points

The NAR settlement proposal released in March 2023 is making waves in the real estate industry. The settlement comes out of the claim that real estate agents colluded to keep prices high in order to earn high commissions and is attempting to decouple real estate commissions from home sales prices. There’s a lot of buzz around this topic without many concrete facts since the settlement (as of this writing) has not been accepted by the Department of Justice (DOJ).
